AMD Donates Technology Devices to Improve School Performance in Central Sulawesi


Jakarta, May 20, 2019 - AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced a donation program to help seven schools in Central Sulawesi, namely in the areas of Palu, Sigi and Donggala. Included in the donation program are the provision of computer equipment and training programs for teachers and school admin staff to improve performance in conducting education during the disaster recovery period. The first donation program carried out in Indonesia is part of the #AMDCare program and in the framework of 50 years of AMD's work in the world of technology.

The schools that received assistance were Muhammadiyah 3 Palu Elementary School, MIS Darul Iman, and Al-Khairat Mamboro Elementary School located in Palu. The other three schools located in Sigi are MIS Al-Khairat Biromaru, Al-Khairat Elementary School Pulu City, and MIS Al-Khairat Bangga and one school in Donggala namely SD 1 Tanantovea. The total number of students served in these seven schools reaches nearly 1,000 children .

In its implementation, AMD collaborated with Wahana Visi Indonesia, a humanitarian organization focused on helping children and participating in responsive responses in Central Sulawesi. AMD also provided computer equipment for the Disaster Recovery Center under the auspices of Wahana Visi Indonesia to improve team services to affected communities.


The earthquake and tsunami that hit the Central Sulawesi region in September 2018 then claimed 2.5 million lives. 839 villages were affected and around 2,700 school buildings were damaged.

"The presence of AMD, as a partner company of WVI, is a form of shared commitment to support technology literacy and teaching and learning activities for schools affected by disasters in Central Sulawesi. Having the same vision in transforming people's lives, this collaboration will not only have a positive impact on students but also capacitate educators in providing teaching materials. There are more than 500 students and 14 teachers who will benefit from this program. The computer equipment provided is powered by an GE Athlon 200 processor that is efficient and power efficient, but can provide performance for productivity and visual display that is very adequate for school needs. Other supporting components use the A320 motherboard, 8 GB Dual Channel memory, 256 GB SSD, and a 20 inch HDMI monitor.

Wahana Visi Indonesia as a companion institution will organize training programs for teachers and school admin staff appointed by the school and conduct monitoring. This is to ensure that the devices provided can be used optimally and sustainably.
